Don’t Miss Memphis in May – Beale Street Music Festival 2013
Now in its 37th year, the Beale Street Music Festival continues to attract fans from all over the country to the lovely Tom Lee Park in downtown Memphis, TN. The 25-acre park stretches along the mighty Mississippi, so the festival combines fantastic music with spectacular views. But why is it called Beale Street festival, you ask? Simple, it’s held at the end of historic Beale Street, a street known for its blues clubs and restaurants, and one of the major tourist attractions of Memphis.
The Beale Street Music Festival is the kick-off event for Memphis in May, a month-long celebration featuring four distinct events. The music festival is followed by an International Festival (this year a “Salute to Sweden”), the World Championship Barbecue Contest (a dangerous amount of deliciousness in one place) and finally, a Sunset Symphony, held on the banks of the Mississippi. So head on down to Memphis, for a May to remember.
