Bonnaroo 2013 News

UPDATE: First Annual Roo Run + Yoga Schedule Released

For the first time ever, Bonnaroo will host a 5k “running party” on their farmland property. For just a $5 entry fee (which will be donated to the Bonnaroo Works Fund), you can run alongside sweaty fellow festy goers for 3.1 miles on Saturday, June 15 at 9am. If running isn’t your thing, there will be tons of yoga throughout the weekend to keep you limber for all that noodle dancing. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, you can head to the Solar Stage for a variety of classes that teach restorative, Vinyasa and meditation-style yoga. Click here for a full Yoga schedule.

UPDATE: Silent Disco Lineup Announced

The lineup for Bonnaroo’s Silent Disco has been announced! Quite possibly one of the most raucous – albiet quietest – party will feature DJ Jazzy Jeff (where you at Will Smith?), DJ Keebz, and Passion Pit. Wowzas! Get your headphones ready, it’s time to dance. Full lineup below.

UPDATE: Late-Night Lineup Announced

As summer draws nearer, more and more Bonnaroo details are being revealed. Today the lineup for the late-night performers have been announced. Among them: Animal Collective, Wu-Tang Clan and Pretty Lights. Check below for a complete lineup.

UPDATE: Main Stage Additions & Club Stages Artists

The organizers at Bonnaroo have just announced additions to the lineup of main stage performers. Get excited for Solange, Empire of the Sun, Polyphonic Spree and more, as they will all be making appearance at one of the summer’s sweatiest soirees. The list of what artists will be performing at the club stage has also been made public. Click here to see the full lineup and the complete list of club stages artists.

UPDATE: Lineup Announced

They probably say this every year, but 2013 (really) may be the biggest Bonnaroo yet: Paul McCartney, Mumford & Sons, Tom Petty, R. Kelly, Billy Idol, and more of the most popular/successful/adored acts in the biz have been tapped to headline this year’s festival. The full lineup has finally been revealed – check it out below!

UPDATE: Lineup Announcement – Less than 7 Days!

In a rather quirky move, the organizers of the annual Bonnaroo Music Festival, set to take place this year June 13 through June 16 in Manchester, Tennessee, revealed that the festival’s lineup announcement would be coming soon with the help of His Weirdness himself, Weird Al Yankovic.

In the video below, Yankovic states that he will be announcing the lineup live on YouTube on February 19th. Keep it locked here as that actually comes to fruition.

UPDATE: Weird Al Lineup Teaser

Bonnaroo has officially announced the dates and location of next year’s festival. One of the most popular events in live music will take place in Manchester, TN, June 13-16. Ticket information won’t be released until November, and it’ll still be some time before the full 2013 lineup is revealed. We do, however, have Bonnaroo’s new spokes-puppy, Carrie the Dancing Merengue Dog, to offer you in the meantime:

Original Post

The 2012 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival ended only two months ago, but already I am feeling a sense of withdrawal. For those oblivious to the summer festival season, “Roo” is considered by many avid festival-goers as a top-5 event. For instance, simply search “top music festivals” in Google and the first result is a link to Bonnaroo 2012. CNN Entertainment recently wrote, “It is difficult to argue that the Bonnaroo festival has been anything but one of America’s best festivals.”

Bonnaroo began in 2002 and 2013 marks the festival’s 12th annual year running. The venue, situated on a 700 acre farm in Manchester Tennessee, draws over 100,000 people during the weekend-long event. The Bonnaroo 2012 lineup was stacked with the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beach Boys, Radiohead, Phish, Bon Iver, and Skrillex.

Bonnaroo Ticket Pricing

Bonnaroo 2013 Ticket Market

On June 13th, the quiet city of Manchester, TN will see a near tenfold increase in its population as 80,000 Bonnaroovian campers rain down on acres upon acres of open fields in Central Tennessee. Although there’s just one week left before the annual music festival kicks off for 4-days of continuous entertainment, general admission tickets are still available on the official website. At Price Level 4, the plastic wristband will cost you $269.50 plus $26.30 in fees, for a total of $295. However, on the secondary-market, a 4-day passes are available for as low as $150.00 — or a hefty 44% off face value.
Furthermore, we’ve seen the vast majority of tickets selling on secondary market sites go for under their face value. According to our research, 82.7% of Bonnaroo 4-day tickets sold on secondary markets went for a price less than the current box office price.

Bonnaroo average ticket prices have fallen steadily, dropping an average of 16% month over month, beginning in January. During the month of January, we saw an average price paid for a Bonnaroo badge in the $500 to $600 range, more than three times as expensive as going rates for a 4-day badge this week.

On average, Bonnaroo 4-day tickets have resold for $239.05, which means that the average Bonnaroo fan who bought on secondary market sites paid less than the face value of the lowest priced ticket, Price Level 1, at which tickets sold for $224.50 + $26.30 in fees.

In contrast to past Bonnaroos, this year’s festival is a historically good value. The average price of this year’s Bonnaroo is 15% lower than the 2010 festival (average price of $282.27), and 31% off of 2011 averages ($348.83). That said, prices are slightly more expensive right now this year as compared to last year (average price of$184.32), but we still expect prices for this year to decline somewhat over the next few days.

Another way to gauge the value offered by a Bonnaroo ticket this year is to take a glance at how much it would cost to see 2013 Bonnaroo headliners individually in concert. The avergage cost of tickets to see Paul McCartney, R. Kelly, Mumford and Sons, Bjork, and Daniel Tosh individually over the past 12 months would have cost in totaled about $741.96 — or 3x the average resale price of 4-day tickets to Bonnaroo.

Bonnaroo is also far less expensive than comparable festival both nearby and nationwide. Although the genre focus is different, Bonnaroo offers a far better deal than the widely popular CMA Music Festival, which took place in Nashville this past weekend. The average price for a 4-Day CMA pass was $532.34, more than twice the average price of a Bonnaroo wristband. Furthermore, Bonnaroo tickets are also cheaper than passes to the 2013 Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival ($288.80 for a 3-day pass). Not only is Outside Lands one day shorter than Bonnaroo, it will also feature some of the same big name artists, including Paul McCartney, Pretty Lights, The National, A-Trak, and Matt & Kim.

Lollapalooza and Firefly—also 3-day events—are more expensive tickets than Bonnaroo, averaging around $382.55 and $288.10, respectively. So if you’re looking for more bang for your buck, as well as more time in the sun, Bonnaroo is likely the most promising option for music fans looking to save on festival tickets this summer.
