Blondie Returns to Nature With UK Forest Summer Tour
New Wave pop icons Blondie are taking an extensive British nature hike as part of their summer tour of the UK, starting June 14 at Sherwood Pines Forest Park in Nottingham. This isn’t the first venue that comes to mind when you think of Debbie Harry and her band of merry musicians, but is one of many sylvan stops on this tour, along with a number of traditional venues. The band will also be playing at Thetford Forest on June 15, Dalby Forest on June 28 and Delamere Forest on July 6. They’ll wrap things up at Kew Gardens in London on July 9.
Since forming in 1974, Blondie’s music (including hits such as “Heart of Glass,” “Call Me” and “Rapture”) have become veritable guideposts in pop music history. After breaking up in 1982, following their sixth studio album The Hunter, the band reformed in 1997 and found renewed success with their single “Maria,” which hit No. 1 on the UK charts. Not content to rest on their laurels (including being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, to say nothing of selling 40 million records worldwide to date), they released their ninth studio album in 2011, Panic of Girls.
