Carrie Underwood Biography

Carrie Underwood came from small beginnings in Checotah, Oklahoma, but that all changed when she emerged the champion of the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. In less than a decade, Underwood has become a country power in her own right, destroying any notion that reality television winners can’t be superstars. So far, Underwood has racked up six Grammys, 16 Billboard Music Awards, seven American Music Awards, and 11 Academy of Country Music Awards, as well as a nomination for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song – to name a few. She’s also won the Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year award twice (2009 and 2010) – the first female artist to do it. Worldwide, Carrie Underwood has sold more than 27 million albums and 15 million singles – and all of this in only eight years. She’s also been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry (2008).

Underwood‘s career has taken off, but don’t fret – her personal life is going pretty well, too. Linked to a string of men including Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and actor Chase Crawford, Underwood wed the NHL’s Nashville Predators player Mike Fisher in 2010. The duo live in Nashville with their dogs, forming their own happy country family.
