UPDATE: Beale Street Music Festival

The Deftones appear to be in the mode of making 2013 summer festival plans. With plans to play Metallica’s Orion Music Festival in June in Detroit (see below for our scoop), the band will now be headed down to Memphis for the Beale Street Music Festival this summer, located at Tom Lee Park on the banks of the Mississippi River.

The festival, set to take place on May 3 through May 5, will also feature Bassnectar, Alice in Chains, Jake Bugg, Smashing Pumpkins and many, many more acts.

UPDATE: Orion Music Festival

With plans to kick off a North American tour on March 4, the Deftones have been announced as part of the lineup for Metallica’s Orion Music Festival, set to take place June 8 and June 9 at the Raceway at Belle Isle in Detroit.

The band joins festival curator and headliner Metallica as well as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, BASSNECTAR, Dropkick Murphys, Gogol Bordello, Foals, Silversun Pickups and many, many more.

Tickets for the festival are on sale now. General admission tickets are going for $150.

With dates in the United Kingdom already planned for 2013, the Deftones have now released details of a full scale American tour to take place in March. The tour will have them visit a total of 19 cities, starting March 4 in Rochester at the Main Street Armory. The trek will also have them visiting Boston, New York, Norfolk, Charlotte, Miami, Orlando, Baton Rouge and Austin before wrapping up on March 30 in Houston at the Bayou Music Center.

The Deftones last played the United Kingdom back in 2011 for the Reading and Leeds Festival and will now return across the pond from Sacramento for a series of five UK shows in 2013. Touring in support of their new album, “Koi No Yokan,” the band will play February shows in Glasgow, Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham and London.

Deftones, the alt-rock band that’s been playing music together for over two decades, has announced a new album and a new tour. The tour begins on October 9 in Ventura, CA, and will span the remainder of the month, with stops in San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Boston. The tour wraps up on October 30 in New York, NY. You can also catch Deftones later this month when they play the Epicenter Festival in Irvine, CA, on the 22nd, and the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA, on the 23rd.

The new album, titled Koi No Yokan, is slated for release on November 13, and features the production work of Nick Raskulinecz (known for his collaborations with Rush and Foo Fighters). This will be the Deftones’ seventh album in their 24 years, and the first release since 2010′s Diamond Eyes. In 2001, the band earned themselves a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for their song, “Elite.”
