German electro-duo (it seems like electronic music lends itself to pairs) Digitalism will finish up their European tour (doing the classic London, Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam run), pop over to Japan for two days in Oiso Machi, and then finally end up in the U.S. of A. for a fairly extensive tour, which will last through May and into June. They’re scheduled to play The Independent in San Francisco twice – once May 7th and then again May 26th (I wonder if that is intentional?). They’re only supposed to be in NY for one night, at the Highline Ballroom…where’s that East Coast love?

The tour does not coincide with the release of any new material, so let’s talk about Digitalism’s old albums. Their debut, Idealism, was released in 2007 in Japan, France, North America, Australia and New Zealand. Talk about international. Their second album, I Love You, Dude (not to be confused with the delightful bro-comedy “I Love You, Man”) came out in 2011, to much acclaim. Since then, they’ve pretty much been chilling besides an installment of K7‘s popular DJ Kicks series last year. Though their groove is a little less laid back than my favorite English chillers, Four Tet and The XX, Digitalism definitely knows how to get down.
