Legendary singer-songwriter Jackson Browne has just announced that not only will he be releasing a new studio album (his first in six years), but he’ll also be going on a unique road tour through the United States. Broken into two parts, the first half will be all solo acoustic shows, and the second half will feature Browne and his backing band. Brown kicked off the tour on July 15 and is currently playing in the Midwest, his next shows will be at the Orpheum in Wichita on July 21. He’ll play the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Easton, PA, on August 9 and then move on to a series of shows in upstate New York, followed by performance in Boston, Portland, MA, Concord, NH, Providence, Wallingford, CT, and Baltimore. After several more shows around the East Coast, Browne and the guys will finish up at the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis on October 18.

Following the release of his self-titled debut album in 1972, Browne (who’d previously written songs for other artists) came to fame as a singer-songwriter in a era of popular music rife with singer-songwriters. His introspective lyrics mixed with naturalistic melodies, dashed with some political activism, resonate with listeners and he’s since released a dozen albums and sold over 18 millions records
