Punk-rock legend Jello Biafra and his current band Guantanamo School of Medicine have just announced the dates for their summer shows in the U.S. The guys are currently playing in France till the end of April (with a few additional European shows in early May), but start things off stateside on June 14 at Reggie’s Rock Club in Chicago. From there, they’ll hit Detroit on June 15 and play shows in Canada and parts of the Northeast before playing the Highline Ballroom in New York on June 27, Union Transfer in Philadelphia on June 28, the Ottobar in Baltimore on June 29, and Mr. Small’s Theater in the Pittsburgh area on June 30. Their last show of the tour will be at Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland on July 2.

First rising to musical underground fame as the lead singer of the pioneering hardcore punk band the Dead Kennedys, Jello Biafra has been a prolific spoken-word performer since the Kennedys broke up in 1986 (the other members reformed in 2001 sans Biafra and will also be touring this summer) releasing nine albums on his own with the occasional side musical project (there was the band Lard in the 1990s). With Guantanamo School of Medicine, Biafra mixes his own iconic style with a Detroit punk sound and the post-9/11 political landscape. Since forming in 2009, they’ve released two albums and two EPs.
