The legendary Scottish alt-rock group The Jesus and Mary Chain have just announced a series of shows this fall to honor their debut album Psychocandy turning 30 next year, in which they’ll perform the entirety of the 1985 album on stage each night. The guys will kick things off at the Troxy in London on November 19. They’ll then head north, playing Manchester Academy in Manchester, UK, on November 20 and finish up at the Barrowland in Glasgow, Scotland on November 21.

Formed in the early 1980s and centered on the songwriting partnership of brothers Jim and William Reid. The Jesus and Mary Chain’s punk-influenced guitar-based sound stood out in an era of electronica and synthpop. Psychocandy’s mix of feedback with traditional pop sound made it a groundbreaking album for alternative rock and was an essential foundation for the ensuing shoegazing subgenre. The band would go onto release five more albums after Psychocandy, with a rotating cast of members (although the Reid brothers always remained), before breaking up in 1999 and then reuniting in 2007.
