Though Kings of Leon has spent much of the year touring in support of their latest album, Mechanical Bull, they’ve just announced a lineup of summer amphitheater dates running from July through the fall. Kicking off on July 31 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in St. Louis, MO, the band will visit Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL (for Lollapalooza); Toronto, ON; Saratoga Springs, NY; Wantagh, NY; Cincinnati, OH; Dallas, TX; and Denver, CO; among others. The tour finishes up on October 1 at the Sleep Train Pavilion in Concord, CA. Support for the tour comes in the form of indie rock band Young the Giant and Kongos. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, April 25 via Live Nation.
Formed in Nashville, TN in 1999, Kings of Leon is made up of brothers Anthony Caleb Followill, Ivan Nathan Followill, and Michael Jared Followill, and their cousin, Cameron Matthew Followill. Though the band’s early sound was that of a blend of blues and Southern rock, they’ve expanded to become one of the biggest arena rock bands in today’s music. They’ve had nine Top 40 singles in the United States, and their 2008 album, Only By The Night, was their first to go platinum in the US.
