Les Claypool’s Duo de Twang Tour

Les Claypool of Primus has a new, rustic side project called Duo de Twang that is set to release a new album in early 2014 and has announced 11 tour dates planned to support the record between January and March. The Duo, pairing Claypool with long-time friend and accomplice Bryan Kehoe, will feature a stripped-down sound on Four Foot Shack, with just a single vocal backed by one guitar, one base, and a tambourine for percussion. The album is scheduled for a February 4 release, and most of the tour dates are in a block from February 27 to March 8. The only exceptions are three dates in Florida (Orlando, St. Petersburg, and Fort Lauderdale) from January 7-9 which precede the band’s time on a Jam Cruise.

After they’re back on dry land, look for Les Claypool’s Duo de Twang in New York City at The Heath at McKittrick Hotel February 27. They’ll venture near Boston, Pittsburgh, and Detroit before it’s all said and done in Indianapolis March 8. The tour date at the McKittrick Hotel is particularly interesting because it’s such an intimate venue, and it also offers fans the chance to pair the group’s performance with that of Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More, a retelling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth that’s particularly dark and allows the audience to move through the experience more freely than a normal theater. Following this tour, more Duo de Twang concerts are in the works, including stops in Nashville and in Austin at SXSW.
