Medeski, Martin, Scofield & Wood just finished off a successful tour, so they’re about to take some time off. But don’t worry, fans—they’ll be back soon, in December to be exact, for a string of North American tour dates. It’s all in support of a new album, Juice, set to be released on September 16. The tour will kick off in Washington, DC, at the 9:30 Club on December 4, and then continue through Philadelphia, PA; Westhampton Beach, NY (at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center); Boston, MA; Durham, NC; Atlanta, GA; New York, NY (at Terminal 5); Toronto, ON; and Chicago, IL, with a final stop at First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN on December 14. The band sounds excited about the tour, with John Medeski noting, “this is a band with a personality and dynamics all its own that we feel we’ve captured like never before on this latest album. And it will only continue to evolve over these shows this winter.” Sounds good to us. For ticketing information, visit the band’s website.

Formed in 1991, MMSW has a sound all their own—their music is described as “avant-jazz-funk-organ”. In the band, John Medeski plays keyboard and piano, Bill Martin plays percussion, Chris Wood handles the bass, and John Scofield jams on guitar.
