Neil Diamond will return to LA's historic Greek Theatre this month.

Considered by many to be the greatest live album of all time, it’s been forty years since Neil Diamond recorded the seminal Hot August Night at L.A.’s Greek Theatre. To mark the anniversary of this career and American rock n’ roll milestone, Diamond has decided to get himself back to the Greek to, if not quite recreate, then reverently commemorate the groundbreaking performance that begat such ubiquitous anthems as “Sweet Caroline” and “Cherry, Cherry.”

Hot August Night

The live double-album Hot August Night was recorded during the first of 10 sold-out shows at the Greek Theatre in 1972. The work derives its name from another Diamond hit, “Brother Love’s Travelling Salvation Show,” for which it serves as the song’s opening lyric. Although the iconic rocker later released Hot August Night II and Hot August Night/NYC in 1987 and 2009, respectively, neither have enjoyed the same popularity or widespread acclaim as the original.
