The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, also knowns as Jazz Fest (get tickets) and one of the preeminent music festivals in the world today, has announced the lineup for the 2012 series which will take place during the weekends of April 27th through 29th and May 3rd through May 6th. The festival is known for celebrating the music and culture of New Orleans both past and present as well as bringing some of the biggest names in music today to the stage in NOLA.

This year’s lineup will feature The Eagles, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, John Mayer, Foo Fighters, the 50th anniversary reunion of the Beach Boys, Zac Brown Band, My Morning Jacket, Bon Iver, Al Green, Ne-Yo, and Florence and the Machine to name just a few. In total, literally hundreds of acts will perform on a dozen stages over the two weekends at the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans.

The event’s promoters have stated that over 85 percent of the lineup is from Louisiana, giving Jazz Fest a truly authentic Bayou sound and feel. Tickets went on sale on December 14.
