Phish Summer Tour 2014

It’s that time again, Phish fans! The four-piece jam band has just announced the first round of dates for their 2014 summer tour, kicking off on July 1 at the Big Xfinity Center in Manfield, MA. The tour will then move through Saratoga, NY, for a 3-night Fourth of July run, followed by Philly, Clarkston, MI; Chicago, Columbia, MD; Portsmouth, VA; Alpharetta, GA, capped off with the usual 3-night run at Commerce City, CO. This tour will also bring Phish to New York City’s Randall’s Island (home of Governors Ball), a first for the band. More dates are likely to be released for the West Coast and beyond, but Phish has noted that “no further East Coast dates will be announced in the summer or fall.” Tickets are available through March 23 through the Phish tickets lottery, and the general on-sale for tickets will being March 27, 28, and 29.

Known for their improvisation, extended jams, and blending of musical genres, Phish was formed at the University of Vermont in 1983 when Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, Jon Fishman, and Page McConnell got together to jam. Though the band doesn’t have much in the way of mainstream exposure, they have a large and dedicated following, with many of their fans trailing behind Phish as they go on tour. Phish Tour Rumors

According to fans across the web, Phish has been dropping clues throughout their tour announcement video that would indicate their plans for a festival in Hawaii. This is in edition to the inevitable west coast dates that will take place this fall.

“Holding true to rumors, the band declared, in fine print beneath their You Tube video, that ‘no additional east coast dates will be announced this summer or fall.’ This confirmation leaves the door wide open for the all-west coast fall tour that is supposedly in the works. The final piece of buzz from yesterday’s drop came once someone had translated the Chinese announcement video. The man holds up a piece of paper detailing a mission in Chinese, which closes with a reference to James Michner’s historical fiction novel, ‘Hawaii.’ Fans hopped on this nugget right away, speculating that the band may be finally plotting the Hawaii holiday run was rumored in ’99.”
