Honda has just named Portugal. The Man and Grouplove as headliners for its annual Honda Civic Tour, with Typhoon and Tokyo Police Club supporting on select dates. The guys will start the tour at the Sun Marymoor Park, Redmond, WA, on August 10. From there, it’s on to shows though Oregon, California, and Nevada. They’ll play Salt Lake City’s Red Butte Garden Amphitheatre on August 19 followed by a show at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, on August 21. After a run through Iowa, Wisconsin and Missouri, they’ll hit Dallas on August 30, Atlanta on September 2, and Charlotte on September 3. The tour will blow through Ohio in mid-September and then move on to Maryland and Massachusetts. They’ll finish up the tour at New York’s Central Park SummerStage on September 16.
Started in 2001, the Honda Civic Tour has become something of a summer tradition and has featured a wide variety of performers from different pop music genres. Each year’s headliners customize a Honda Civic, which is then raffled off to attendees. Portugal. The Man hails from Wasilla, AK, and have put out a total of eight studio albums, their most recent release, Evil Friends, came out on June 4 and cracked the top 30 on the U.S. Charts. Grouplove was formed in LA in 2009 and has released two albums, 2011’s Never Trust a Happy Song and 2013’s Spreading Rumors.
