Mexican acoustic guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela have just announced another set of shows in the US their 2014 summer tour. The two have already kicked of the first half of the tour with a series of shows at the Beacon Theater in New York running May 1 to May 3, followed by a couple concerts in Los Angeles (the Orpheum on May 6 and the Palladium on May 7) with a brief run up the coast. After a leg of shows and festival appearances in Europe, the two will pick things up stateside with the newly announced series of shows on the East Coast, starting with the XPoNential Music Festival in Camden, NJ, on July 25. They’ll then hit a bunch of other music festivals through the Northeast, before making their way South to play in Wilmington, NC, on August 5 with additional shows in Charlotte, NC, Nashville, TN, and Louisville, KY. From there it’s a run through the Midwest, with stops in Grand Rapids, MI, Milwaukee, WI, and Chicago, IL. They’ll finish up with a show at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on August 17.
Although originally hailing from Mexico City, Rodrigo y Gabriela came up through the music scene in Dublin. Since their first widely released studio album, re-Foc, in 2002, the pair have sold over a million records and seen their music, which mixes everything from flamenco guitar to heavy metal, used in a variety of TV shows and movies. Their most recent album, 9 Dead Alive, was released on April 28.
