On July 22, our favorite political ska-rockers, RX Bandits, will release their first album in five years, titled Gemini, Her Majesty. To promote said album, the guys will be hitting the road this summer. The tour starts on July 11 at the State Theatre in St. Petersburg, FL. After that, it’s a few more shows in the sunshine state and the band will start heading north, playing shows in Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. They’ll eventually play New York on July 22 and Boston’s House of Blues on July 23. From there, it’s on to shows at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit and Newport Music Hall in Columbus and more throughout the Midwest, making their way to the West Coast. They’ll play the Hawthorne Theatre in Portland on August 5, followed by a series of shows down the coast to Southern California and then on to Phoenix. They’ll finish up the tour with a run through Texas, the last show being at Warehouse Live in Houston on August 17.

Originating as part of the ska resurgence of the mid-90s (when they were then known as The Pharmaceutical Bandits), the RX Bandits is a band that’s evolved its sound over the years. Pushing away from the realm of ska and seriously scaling down the use of horns in their music to become more of a rock quartet. Their last album, 2009’s Mandala, reached up to 117 on the Billboard 200.
