The reigning queen of country music isn’t really that country this time around—Taylor Swift announced plans for her fifth album, 1989, this week, and she’s gone on record saying that it is her “first official documented pop album.” Her lead single for the album, “Shake It Off” (you can see it below), Is just that—a frothy, fun, tune that’s perfect for radio, except, maybe country radio. Genre-busting aside, the album is due out October 27, and we’re all excited to hear it. And, when a new album comes out, you can bet that a mega-touring artist like T.Swift will be hitting the road alongside it. Those dates have yet to be revealed, but stay tuned for the latest Taylor Swift news.

Born in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Taylor Alison Swift is, to understate, a musical phenomenon. After moving to country music capital Nashville, Tennessee at the barely-ripe age of 14 to seek her fortune, Swift was signed to independent label Big Machine Records. Her debut album (eponymous, of course) hit the charts in 2006, instantly making her one of country’s most recognizable artists. The album’s third single, “Our Song”, cemented Swift’s place in history as the youngest country artist to write and perform a number-one song.
