The Allman Brothers Band started a tradition by taking up residency at New York’s iconic Beacon Theatre back in 1989, and recently announced their intentions to return in 2011. The band’s leader Gregg Allman announced that they will play eight consecutive shows in March, with fans certain that more dates will be added in the weeks leading up to the concert spectacular. Warren Haynes guitarist of Gov’t Mule, and a slew of other jam band acts including The Dead and most recently his self named ensemble, will again join Gregg Allman, Oteil Burbridge, Butch Trucks and the rest of the gang in a southern rock infused takeover of New York’s Upper West Side.

The intimate Beacon Theatre seats less than 3,000 fans, and this upcoming run is poised to be a real treat, especially with Gregg Allman back on the road and happier than ever after recent health complications. Tickets go on sale this weekend and are sure to sell out fast, so be sure to check SeatGeek to find the best deals on the secondary market.
