UPDATE: Flaming Lips Announces SXSW Stint

Along with the new album, The Flaming Lips have also announced plans for some SXSW action of the music and film persuasion. On March 13, the band will premier their movie “A Year in the Life of Wayne’s Phone” at the Alamo Ritz Theater. The film is exactly what it sounds like: a year of footage taken on the quirky frontman’s cell (with a Q&A to follow). Next, they’ll hit up the Warner’s showcase at The Belmont for March 14 & 15 performances. And don’t forget to check them out when they hit the road with The Black Keys in the upcoming weeks.

UPDATE: New album & Super Bowl news

The Flaming Lips had a news filled week last week. The band, who is set to kick off a short co-headlining tour with The Black Keys on April 28 at the Sprint Center, announced that their new album entitled The Terror will be released on April 2.

The first new music from the album, the single “Sun Blows Up Today,” will be released to online digital retailers on January 29 and will also be featured in a music bed in a television commercial set to make its debut during the Super Bowl on February 3. (source: Billboard)
