The National Won’t Cross ‘Sea of Love’ for Tour Dates
The National Tour
Heads up, The National fans: the band has just announced plans for a short series of North American tour dates to be played this spring. They’ll start with a performance on March 25 at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, and then move through Toronto, ON; Grand Rapids, MI; Chicago, IL; Austin, TX (as a part of Austin City Limits); Berkeley, CA; and Atlanta, GA at the Shaky Knees Festival. The tour is in support of their new film, Mistaken for Strangers. In addition to the tour dates, the band has also announced a Valentine’s Day cover song contest: fans are instructed to submit videos covering The National’s “I Need My Girl”. A winning video will be chosen on Valentine’s Day. Tickets for all of their shows are on sale now.
Formed at the University of Cincinnati in 1999 and based currently in Brooklyn, New York, The National is comprised of two sets of brothers—twins Aaron and Bryce Dessner and brothers Scott and Bryan Devendorf—and lead singer and primary songwriter Matt Berninger. Their most recent album, Trouble Will Find Me (the band’s sixth) was released in May 2013. Popular on the festival circuit, the band has played shows at Boston Calling, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and more.
