Alternative rock legends (is there a word bigger than legends?) The Replacements reunited last fall, and, thankfully for their fans, the reunion hasn’t slowed down…unless, of course, you count New York City, where area residents have been waiting for an NYC show. Luckily, it’s time—The Replacements have just announced plans for a New York City show, to take place on September 19 at the recently revived Forest Hills Stadium in Queens. Joining the group on stage will be The Hold Steady and Deer Tick. Tickets for this big-deal show will go on sale Saturday, June 21 at 11:00am via Ticketfly, and you’d better act fast if you want them—they’re sure to sell out.

Formed in Minneapolis, MN in 1979, The Replacements’ founding lineup consisted of vocalist Paul Westerberg, guitarist Bob Stinson, bassist Tommy Stinson, and drummer Chris Mars. Widely considered to be one of the pioneering bands of alternative rock, The Replacements never really achieved a huge degree of commercial success, sticking instead to critical acclaim and a rabid fan base. The band has noted that their musical influences include The Rolling Stones, The Clash, Dead Boys, Lou Reed, and The Beatles. They’ve released seven studio albums, the last being 1990’s All Shook Down.
