New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics First Round Preview

The New York Knicks have not won a playoff series since the 1999-2000 NBA Playoffs – quite some time for one of the major markets and marquee franchises in the history of the NBA. They look to change that this year as they head into a first round contest with the Boston Celtics.

Led by Carmelo Anthony, the 2012-2013 NBA scoring champion, the #2 seed Knicks renew a playoff rivalry with their divisional rivals, the #7 seed Boston Celtics. The Knicks finished the season with a record of 54-28 and the Atlantic Division crown.

The Celtics come into the matchup with the Knicks banged up on many different levels. From aging stars like Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the weight of all that has transpired in the city of Boston this week, the Celts will be energized and playing with emotion probably like they never have before. The Celtics have been led as usual by these two stalwarts but also have seen the emergence of Jeff Green to a vital role on the team.

This matchup could turn out to be a major dogfight and has the potential to go all seven games. Game 1 tips off on Saturday at 3:00 PM EST at Madison Square Garden.
