Ticket Demand for Saints at Seahawks NFL Playoff Game

The New Orleans Saints‘ late, dramatic victory against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL Wild Card Playoff round earned them a step closer to the Super Bowl, and that step takes them back across the country to the Pacific Northwest. This is the Saints’ second trip to visit the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field, and they’ll do their best to finish this postseason matchup in a better position than their regular season tussle just over a month ago. The Seahawks dominated the Saints to the tune of a 34-7 victory, so New Orleans will have to overcome those memories as well as some from the not-so-distant past.

Back in 2011, in the Wild Card round of the 2010 NFL season, the Saints visited what looked to be an undeserving division champion Seattle squad they were expected to run over; however, the Seahawks didn’t cooperate and Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch led the charge to march right over the New Orleans. That game was the landmark in the resurgence of the Seahawks franchise, and it’ll be interesting to see how this rematch goes for both squads.

Average Ticket Prices for Saints at Seahawks

Interest in the game is showing up in the ticket prices, as well. The current going rate is averaging $416, an all-time high for CenturyLink Field since 2009. That price represents a 35% increase over the regular season game between these teams last month ($305 on average) and over triple the average price back in January of 2011 ($131/ticket). Aside from the Seahawks record, this current average price also represents the highest NFL Divisional Playoff round cost we’ve seen, besting the Saints-49ers game in Candlestick Park back in 2012 ($387).

The cheapest seats available are high in the upper deck and already double the lowest face value tickets for CenturyLink Field ($174 compared to $73), while the cheapest lower-bowl seats are starting at $253. The average price for the Saints-Seahawks game is the highest of the four weekend games, beating the Broncos-Chargers ($355 per ticket), Panthers-49ers ($276) and Patriots-Colts ($195). The price, however, is already nearly doubled by the prospective NFC Championship game in Seattle should the Seahawks beat the Saints; that game is already hovering at an average retail of $810. The history between these two teams makes for compelling back story, and the play on the field is sure to be worth the admission price so many fans (especially those in Washington and Oregon) are clearly willing to pay.

Saints-Seahawks Game Results

The last time these two teams played during the regular season, they also met in the playoffs. While the 2010-11 season saw the Seahawks avenge their earlier loss by defending home field advantage, this year sees the Saints making a second trip to CenturyLink Field in Seattle, one of the toughest places to play in the league fueled by loyal and loud fans. Two months ago, the Seahawks walloped Drew Brees and the visiting Saints; it’ll take another atypically good showing by the guys from New Orleans to repeat the road victory they earned last week against the Philadelphia Eagles.
